| Tip: Be wary of paying a fee to land a state
job; it's likely a government job scam, of which there are many. Official
state job agencies never charge job seekers. |
White-collar state jobs typically require formal education
or training, such as a degree or certification, or at least equivalent
experience. Blue-collar state jobs typically do not require a college degree,
but might require experience, training or both.
State jobs also include apprenticeships and internships,
which typically do not require much experience, if any. Some of the government
agencies that list state jobs also sponsor local job
fairs for same.
| Did you know? If you are a qualified veteran,
then you are entitled to veterans'
preference in hiring and retention for state government jobs if your
work state has such a program. Many states do. |
To find, apply for or learn about state jobs, just click on a state name below
to visit the official government job site. Many also provide online resources
for current state employees, such as those regarding benefits, retirement and employee
rights.
Another good place to look for state jobs is through your local unemployment
office. You don't have to be unemployed to use its job
searching facilities, as it's a free public service.
