Resume Template 2
Resume Template 2 is in a scannable, functional
format. At first glance, it might seem to be essentially a combination resume
template. That's because a functional format emphasizes qualifications, as does
a combination format. But a closer look reveals that functional format also de-emphasizes
work history, by placing it near the end without much said about each employer.
That's why some job candidates use the functional format to de-emphasize a
weak employment record or "hide" work-history gaps. Subsequently, providing
employment dates is optional in the Employers section of this resume template.
But, think twice about not including employment dates. See Functional
Resume Format under Resume Formats for
more information.
You may download Resume Template 2 for free and modify it for personal use.
It's an RTF file, which is compatible with most word processors (such as Microsoft® Word)
and safe to download. But first, please read the Important notice
below. It includes the download link.
If you'd prefer a functional resume template that has the headings listed above
the sections, see Resume Template 6. Refer
to Resume Templates for the
formats and styles available for downloading.
Because of differences in the way that Web browsers and word processors display
pages, the resume template format (line spacing, margins, fonts, etc.) displayed
below differs slightly from the download version.
If you copy and paste this resume template from your screen instead of downloading
it, the format might not stay intact. That's because copying picks up background
Web-page formatting that might not be understood by the software application
into which you paste it.

| QUALIFICATIONS |
[For general resume submissions, summarize
your most important qualifications. If you're applying for a specific
job, tailor your qualifications to match those required in the job
description, as closely as possible without making them up. Use action
words and industry-standard keywords.
Optionally, also list a one- to three-word specific per bullet (•)
below, keeping each to one line if possible. If needed, rename this
section to better fit what you write, such as Profile, Summary or Background.]
|
| [OPTIONAL] |
[Summarize, highlight in the bullets below or both.]
- [This resume template section is optional, but often included
in a functional resume when a summary of qualifications alone won't
do.]
- [Use it to expand upon your qualifications or highlight anything
that you think is important, such as special skills or stellar
achievements. Name it appropriately.]
- [Incorporate action words and
industry-standard keywords.]

[Optional brief description]
- [List significant awards, accomplishments or curricular activities,
or your minor, work completed toward advanced degree, etc.]
- [If you're fresh out of school with little career work experience,
making your education your most significant career asset, move
this section higher up in your resume.]
- [For example, if your career accomplishments are limited because
you've been earning a degree, you might delete the Optional section
and move this section to just below the Qualifications section.]
|
| [EXTRA] |
[Optional extra section for what you think is important
to emphasize; for example, special skills, military experience, awards
or membership in career-related professional organizations. (Personal
hobbies and interests are no longer included in U.S. resumes, because
they have too-often given the wrong impression.) If this section is
more important than another, move it up in your resume. Delete this
section from the resume template if you don't use it.]
|
| REFERENCES |
References available on request. [This resume template
section is often omitted in modern resumes, because employers now assume
that applicants will provide references if asked. If you want to keep
it anyway, just delete this bracketed text. If you need the space,
delete this whole section.] |
